A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth (or teeth) to the adjacent natural teeth or implants. Bridges restore your smile, improve your ability to chew and speak, and help maintain the shape of your face.
At Hope City Dental Professionals, we craft dental bridges that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, giving you a confident, functional smile.
Dental Bridges vs. Dental Implants
Both dental bridges and dental implants are effective solutions for replacing missing teeth, but they differ in important ways:
- Dental Bridges rely on surrounding teeth for support, are non-surgical, and are typically faster and more affordable than implants. They are ideal for patients who want a quick, reliable solution without surgery.
- Dental Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone, providing a more permanent and bone-preserving solution. They do not require support from neighboring teeth.

What to Expect
Getting a dental bridge typically requires two or more visits to our office:
- First Visit: The abutment teeth (the teeth on either side of the gap) are prepared by reshaping them to allow for a crown to be placed on top. Impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to a dental lab where your custom bridge is fabricated. A temporary bridge is placed to protect the exposed teeth and gums.
- Second Visit: The temporary bridge is removed and the new permanent bridge is checked and adjusted for proper fit and bite. Once everything is confirmed, the bridge is cemented into place.
The entire process is designed to be as comfortable as possible. Our compassionate team will walk you through each step. Questions? Call us at 479-309-9665
Types of Dental Bridges
There are several types of dental bridges available, and our team will recommend the best option based on your individual situation:
- Traditional Bridges: The most common type, supported by dental crowns on adjacent teeth. Ideal when natural teeth are present on both sides of the gap.
- Cantilever Bridges: Used when there is only one adjacent tooth next to the missing tooth. Less common and typically used in areas of the mouth with less chewing pressure.
- Maryland Bridges: A conservative option that uses a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the backs of adjacent teeth. No reshaping of surrounding teeth is required.
- Implant-Supported Bridges: Supported by dental implants rather than crowns or frameworks. Ideal for replacing multiple missing teeth and considered the strongest and most stable option.
